If anything the Republican Party should have learned from the 2008 Election it is its failure to reach the people. While it is true that most seasoned and investigative voters voted for McCain and other republicans; it is also true that many did not. Given the electorial numbers both popular and electorial, even Republican voters who either do not vote or swing their vote when they do not approve of the party's choice, went to Obama.
Though the damage done to the country, and the economy was shared, the brunt of it was laid at the feet of the republican and the republican administration.
The thing that swayed most voters was the "Bush Effect", the republican party and our candidates did nothing to attack and overcome this. The fact that Republicans have constantly failed to reach all econnomic and racial voters played a major part in this election, and cost us not only the Presidency but also many Congressional seats.
For the next two-years the Obama Administration and the Democrats have free reign, and the Republican Party and its candidates must prepare to rebound in the future elections to first take back the Legislative Branch than to take back the Executive Branch. But in order to do so we must reach all Americans.
